De Engelse Tuinvrouw is a small company specialising in pruning, border maintenance and garden renovation. With a focus on climate-robust gardens and living with nature.
The company was founded in 2021 by Lisa Piper.
The gardens and green spaces that surround us every day are vital to our health, mental well-being and the environment. Not only do they provide us with places to relax, play and entertain, but are also a haven for wildlife. By surrounding your house with greenery, you not only have an attractive garden. Greenery can also help cool your living space in the summer and protect it against heat loss in the winter. Good soil and water management maximises the use of nutrients and water. Through good design and the selection of the right plants for the right places, we work with nature instead of against it. Creating beautiful places for people and nature.
I am a green-fingered plant and nature lover who draws my energy and inspiration from the endlessly fascinating natural world.
Starting my career in the UK horticultural sector working with garden and landscaping companies, garden centers and nurseries. After graduating with a Bachelor in Horticulture, it was a natural step to use my energy and enthusiasm to inspire and educate others; training the next generation of gardeners and landscape managers in the East of England. From garden renovation, conservation and maintenance of historic stately home gardens (yes, just like Downton Abbey), to public parks, private gardens, sports grounds and golf courses.
After living and training and working with vegetable growers in West Africa for several years, I moved to the Netherlands and graduated with a Master's degree in Plant Science from Wageningen University.
With De Engelse Tuinvrouw I want to return to my roots, (yes, pun intended). Through my passion for plants and energy to inspire others, my goal is to create and maintain gardens and green spaces for both people and nature to enjoy.
